Hair Tests

The hair analysis test is used to measure both nutritional minerals and the the concentration of toxic heavy metals present in the structure of the hair. Hair is normally taken close to the scalp at the base of the neck though samples from other sites can be used.

Important nutritional minerals measured in this test include calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, chromium, selenium and zinc. Research has shown that the levels of these elements in the hair are reflective of the total nutritional environment within the body.

Since minerals are involved in almost all enzyme reactions within the body they are essential to life and it is important to check that you have adequate levels for optimum health.

If your hair reveals the presence of heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, mercury, aluminum, cadmium, barium, palladium and uranium this indicates that these substances are also present in the tissues and organs of your body.

Generally heavy metals cannot be detected by blood or urine tests so hair analysis is a useful method of providing us with this important information. Heavy metals are toxic, the severity of symptoms being related to the amount of toxic substance present and the length of time it has been there.

Large doses can lead to early death. Smaller amounts present over many months or years produce chronic degenerative diseases. Heavy metals chemically relate to the mineral content of the body.

For example, aluminum will displace calcium, magnesium and manganese due to its valence in the atomic table. This produces a deficiency of these three minerals with associated metabolic dysfunctions.
